What’s a Foreign Inward Remittance Certificate (FIRC)?

A Foreign Inward Remittance Certificate (FIRC) is a document that acts as proof of a foreign transfer to India.

FIRC is a document that allows exporters in India to prove that they got paid for export sales. This is usually issued by their bank when the bank receives a wire transfer in foreign currency (e.g., a USD wire transfer) and is able to certify that the amount deposited in Indian Rupees to the seller’s account, was indeed from a buyer outside of India and was paid for in foreign currency.
